Traumblasen – Balončići od Snova, Goethe Institut Sarajevo
Sehnsuchtsorte entstehen meist in weiter Ferne, von wo aus sie uns eine schönere Zukunft verheißen. Doch Träume von solchen Orten können wachsen wie Seifenblasen: je größer sie werden, desto leichter platzen sie. Die Künstler*innen dieser Ausstellung befassen sich kritisch mit den Träumen und Erwartungen von einem besseren Leben woanders. Welche Gründe sind es, bestimmte Orte zu verlassen und andere zu wählen? In welchem Maße entspricht die harte Realität den unterschiedlichen Vorstellungen? Indem die Künstler*innen diese Fragen stellen, greifen sie Themen wie Ausgrenzung, Geflüchteten- und Integrationspolitik, bürokratische Hürden und gesellschaftliche Spannungen in Bezug auf Migration auf. Mit dem Blick auf die Spuren von zerplatzten Träumen, fragen sie wie sich Erwartungen und Lebensrealität voneinander entfernen und gleichzeitig gegenseitig nähren.

Up in Arms, nGbK in cooperation with Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, Berlin
The focus of the exhibition project is the emancipatory potential of art. Art ›up in arms‹ challenges us to take a closer look: at the weapons exploding in distant places while generating profits that benefit us here. Artists and NGOs work together on this project to shed light on the international arms trade. In the exhibition space as well as in public space in Berlin, questions will be raised: What role does the arms trade and its lobby networks play today? What role has it played historically? And how can we join arms against it?

How a piece of art could save the future of a park, FBL
The fight over a park(ing) area in Sarajevo has raised art activism to rescue not only a sculpture, but also rare green space in the city. On August 5th, city workers started to dismantle Helmut Lutz’ sculptural installation Sternenweg (Road under the stars) in Sarajevo’s Hastahana park without announcement before citizens and members of the Hastahana Park initiative interfered, astonished by their unprofessional action. Though for a while the carelessly disassembled pieces remained abandoned on the grass, actions by artists and citizens have fostered a discussion of what was supposed to be handled clandestinely.
